The History of the Holy Family Haiti MinistryAs we view pictures of St. Jude's
parish, Haiti, the Baptiste Dispensary, the TQ School the Belandare
hospital, Totoye Chapel the water project and others, we recall TQ's
request of Bishop Sullivan to twin with a new parish at the end of the
road in Haiti. Pere Frederic, an aide to Bishop of Hinche Haiti,
requested permission to establish a parish in Baptiste and appoint him
pastor. With a donation of two thousand dollars from our Knights of
Columbus Chapter, TQ visited Pere Frederic in 2003 and initiated a five
year development plan for St. Jude's parish that provided seed money
for schools, church buildings, staff, a water project and economic self
help programs. Basic to the success of the plan was the local labor
and maintenance contirbution and for the schools to be self sufficient
in the five year time frame.
Since September 2003 Holy family
parish has collected money for the Haiti Building Fund and for the
haiti Water Project. In addition, materials such as blackboards,
books, computers, sneakers, backpacks, sewing machines, and fabric, as
well as hundreds of thousands of medicines and medical equipment have
been sent to the hospital at Beladare and other clinics to provide
basic medical assistance. This is a tredmendous outpouring of love and
financial aid to some of the poorest people in the world. But the need
to sustain this effort is fundamental to the success of our twinning
with St. Jude's.
Accomplishments:

of a medical group called, Partners In Health (Boston), who
has assisted us in delievering much needed medical equipment to clinics
and hospitals. With a daily clean water supply and free medical
assistance, the people of Baptiste, Haiti can begin to enjoy longer,
healthier, and more productive lives. Please continue to be generous
to the annual collection for our twin parish, St. Jude's, Baptiste,
Haiti.
